India’s old Parliament building handed over its position to the new infrastructure on Monday and the house proceedings were held in the new building after bidding farewell to the old building. Every member stepped out wishing to witness new beginnings. Shashi Tharoor penned his enthusiasm on X as he wrote, ‘new beginnings await’ along with the photos.
The Congress MP has also commented about the women reservation bill on X. He said it will be a historic moment if the bill gets passed. He recollects the fact that the bill was passed by UPA government 15 years ago in Rajya Sabha and now it will be bought back to Lok Sabha. He shared his view regarding how important is to include the women’s perspective in national legislatures for the better running of our country.
“As head of the only political organisation that already uses a 33% rule, by reserving one-third of all office-bearer positions for women (the All-India Professionals’ Congress @ProfCong), I welcome reports that the women’s reservation bill, passed by the UPA Government 15 years ago in the Rajya Sabha, will at last be brought to the Lok Sabha. When it is passed, it will be a historic moment — an overdue acknowledgement of how indispensable women’s perspectives are in the nation’s legislatures. Looking forward to its swift passage!”, he wrote on X.
