Shashi Tharoor's "Extraordinary Experience" With A Monkey
Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor has shared a light-hearted moment with a monkey. The politician’s encounter with monkey occurred during his daily routine today, and he has called it an “extraordinary experience” in his life.
“While i was sitting in the garden, reading my morning newspapers, a monkey wandered in, headed straight for me and parked himself on my lap,” said the Congress leader. The former UN under secretory general went on to say that the money hungrily ate a couple of bananas he offered, hugged him and proceeded to rest the monkey’s head on his chest and dozed off.
“I gently began to get up, he leapt off and loped away,” the Congress leader penned on his social media platform X.

Not getting rid of the memory of the monkey which spend a few minutes with the politician, Tharoor, in a follow up post, noted that reverence for wildlife is ingrained in the human being, admitting that he was a bit concerned about the risk of a monkey-bite though. He said he stayed and welcomed the monkey’s presence as non-threatening, adding that he was gratified that his faith was borne out and the encounter between him and the monkey was entirely peaceful and gentle.
“Reverence for wildlife is ingrained in us, so though i was a bit concerned about the risk of a monkey-bite (which would have necessitated rabies shots), I stayed calm and welcomed his presence as non-threatening. I am gratified that my faith was borne out and our encounter was entirely peaceful and gentle,” Tharoor wrote.
