Days after taking charge as head of news at RT India, Runjhun Sharma, a veteran journalist who previously reported for the RT network, shared a photo on Friday showing her relaxing with senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, sparking buzz on internet.
Sharing the picture with Tharoor, Sharma, who is known for her non-Western journalistic approach, wrote, “After handing Britain a big, fat stack of colonial receipts. He’s back. This time in Moscow. It’s an India Russia special on RT.”

Vladimir Putin, during his recent visit to India, announced the launch of RT India, a new Kremlin-funded broadcaster, as part of the established RT (formerly Russia Today) network. The network has placed Sharma as its head following her years of experience reporting for the network as Moscow-based South Asia correspondent. The Russian leader inaugurated RT’s foreign office, featuring a new studio in New Delhi with a team of more than 100 staff, reflecting Moscow’s intention to expand the network’s footprint in India.
Marking the launch, Putin said that the channel would first and foremost strive to communicate to its viewers truthful information about our country and about what’s happening around the globe, underscoring that it significantly differs from propaganda channels and Western information sources.
