Meanwhile, Shashi Tharoor found himself facing yet another wave of criticism from within the party following a remark that diverged from the Congress’s official stance. While representing India in international delegations following Operation Sindoor, a military operation targeting terrorist camps across the Line of Control, Tharoor stated that India conducted its first cross-border surgical strike under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. This comment was perceived as aligning with the BJP’s narrative and contradicted the Congress party’s position, causing unease within the party ranks.
However, in response to the criticism, Tharoor said that his remarks referred to retaliatory action against terrorist attacks in recent years. He further stated that critics were misinterpreting his words and that he was focusing on the current diplomatic mission.
