Congress on Thursday in strong words reacted to Parliament”s suspension of 15 Opposition MPs as “suspension of democracy”. It was on Thursday one Rajya Sabha MP and 14 Lok Sabha MPs from different political parties were suspended for disrupting parliamentary proceedings. Opposition MPs created huge uproar in both the houses urging statement from the government concerning major security breach occurred inside the Parliament on Wednesday.
Attacking the ruling BJP, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge wrote on social media platform X that after endangering National security and Parliament, “the safety of the temple of our Democracy,” BJP is now “shooting the messenger.” He stated: “The suspension of 15 opposition MPs from the Parliament because they wanted a discussion on the grave security breach is SUSPENSION OF DEMOCRACY !”
Congress president enquires, “What is their crime ?” and asks whether it a crime to propose statement in the house, or urging discussion on the security breach in Parliament.
“Does it not invoke draconian shades of dictatorship, a hallmark of the present dispensation?” he questions.
