Hearing that BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri has given poll responsibility in Rajasthan”s Tonk district, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Kunwar Danish Ali said that it exposes BJP’s face and character. According to Party sources, the BJP MP’s responsibility will be similar to the party’s poll in-charge of the district.

“This has exposed BJP”s face and character. If they think that they can consolidate majority vote by promoting such people, then they are mistaken,” Mr Ali told PTI.

Mr. Bidhuri has been at the centre of controversy for his objectionable remarks against Mr Ali during the special Parliamentary session held last week. While participating in a debate on the success of Chandrayaan 3, Mr Bidhuri hurled abuses and communal slurs at Mr Ali. Following this, the Opposition rallied together in support of BSP leader and demanded strict action against BJP MP. The party has sent a show cause notice to Mr. Bidhuri demanding explanation on the use of unparliamentary language at Lok Sabha. It was in such a context, BJP MP’s new responsibility irked the Opposition.

Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal criticised BJP’s stand and said: “(Ramesh) Bidhuri should have been expelled, but instead, he has been rewarded. Despite the fact that Defence minister (Rajnath Singh) said he should not have stated these words, he has been rewarded by the government and BJP by making him in-charge of Tonk,” reports PTI.

In a social media post on X, Congress General Secretary and MP Jairam Ramesh wrote: “‘Sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka vishwas’—yeh sab hai inka bakwaas”

Similarly, TMC MP Mahua Moitra attacked BJP on her social media post for “rewarding” Mr. Bidhuri.

Meanwhile, Mr. Bidhuri posted on X that he attended a coordination meeting for the Tonk district held in Jaipur.
