Describing how the Prime minister of India Narendra Modi is protecting Israel’s reputation “even against the national interest of India,” Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) and Parliament standing committee member on commerce Saket Gokhale said that he submitted parliamentary questions seeking information on the number of Israeli citizens staying in India currently. In his letter to the Rajya Sabha secretariat, Gokhale sought written answers to questions on the number of Israelis who are overstaying their visa and the number of those who were deported for overstaying their visa. He also asked questions about the criminal cases filed against Israeli citizens in India.
However, with the government “blocking” his questions citing it “refers discourteously to a friendly country,” the Trinamool Congress MP Gokhale took to Twitter saying: “The Modi Govt, however, BLOCKED my question on the bizarre ground that it “refers discourteously to a friendly country”.
In his post on the social media platform X, he further asked if the questions about the Rohingya and Bangladeshi immigrants are allowed, then why is Israel so special, hinting at why the questions on the Israeli immigrants are not entertained. He also asked how it becomes a “discourtesy and insult” when an MP asks questions about visa overstayers.
He also shared his letter along with the reply given by the government, saying it was a “simple straightforward data- question.” Gokhale expressed his discontent over the government blocking his questions saying: “This is beyond unbelievable to see how Modi is protecting Israel”s “reputation” even against the national interests of India.”
“Is it “discourtesy” if MPs wish to know how many Israelis are overstaying their visas? Are we supposed to allow Israelis to take over & control places in Himachal Pradesh because PM Modi wants to please Netanyahu,” he added in his post.
How the Modi Govt shockingly blocking questions even from MPs about Israel
I”d submitted a Parliamentary Question asking details on the number of Israeli citizens overstaying their visas in India & on criminal cases filed against Israeli nationals.
