“Undoubtedly The Assam CM’s Doing”: Jairam Ramesh Alleges His Vehicle Attacked By BJP Workers

Edited by Fathimathu Shana

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh alleged that his vehicle was attacked by a crowd of BJP workers in Assam. Taking to his social media platform X (formerly twitter), the Congress leader said that BJP workers attacked his vehicle while he was at Jamugurihat, tearing off the Bharath Jodi Nyay Yatra sticker from the windshield.

He said, “My vehicle was attacked a few minutes ago at Jumugurihat, Sunitpur by an unruly BJP crowd who also tore off the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra stickers from the windshield. They threw water and shouted anti-BJNY slogans. But we kept our composure, waved to the hooligans and sped away.”

He alleged that it was “undoubtedly” the doing of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He also posted a video which showed his car being blocked by a group of men, some among whom were holding BJP flags. Jairam Ramesh was seen waving off the people outside as the car tried to move past. The Assam CM is yet to make any response regarding the issue.

Earlier, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi made allegations against the Assam CM by saying “Probably Assam has the most corrupt government running in the country”. Jairam Ramesh said that it was abundantly clear that the Assam CM is rattled and is nervous by the tremendous response being received by the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

“People from all sections of Assam’s diverse society and people of all ages have been enthusiastically welcoming Rahul Gandhi. The visuals speak for themselves”, he pointed out, adding, “the Assam CM can abuse and defame, he can threaten and intimidate but we are not afraid. He is obviously disturbed by the huge impact of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which will continue in Assam for another 6 days inspite of his continuing efforts to derail it”.
