"Usurped" Scholarships For SCs, STs, OBCs, Minorities: Congress Chief Slams Govt

New Delhi: Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday alleged that the Modi government has seized the scholarships of the youth of SC, ST, OBC and minority communities in the country. The Congress leader said that the statistics reflect that Modi government has not only made huge slashes in the number of beneficiaries but also the funds spent on year after year. He has also said that the slogan of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” ruthlessly mocks the aspirations of the weaker section.

In a post on X, Kharge said: “Your government has usurped the scholarships meant for SC, ST, OBC and Minority youth ! These shameful statistics show that the Modi Govt has not only drastically reduced the beneficiaries in all scholarships, but has also reduced the funds by an average of 25%, over the years !”

Along with the post, Kharge has shared a tabular data comprising government information from Rajya Sabha responses and budget documents to underline his argument on the decline in scholarship beneficiaries over the past decade.

Continuing further, Kharge asked how will jobs for the youth be increased unless the students from weaker sections of the country get opportunities and their skills are appreciated.

“Until the students of the weaker sections get opportunities, their skills are not encouraged, how will we be able to increase jobs for the youth of our country? Your slogan of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” cruelly mocks the aspirations of the weaker sections, every day !” Kharge added.
