IIM Ahmedabad Dream Applications Rise Threefold in Last Five Years

In the Dream application, a student can explore a sector or function of their choice, even after an offer on hand. A significant rise was observed in the recruitment process of IIM Ahmedabad as the number of applications rose by over 3 fold. In IIM Ahmedabad, a total of 65 dream applications were received for the cluster 3 placements in 2021, whereas in 2024, a total of 106 students made over 200 dream applications, reflecting a proactive approach to securing roles that align with their interests.

Dream Applications: What it means

If a student secures a job from a company under the category of a “dream company,” then also they can continue participating in the placement process to apply for other dream companies. This process helps students to pursue roles they truly desire rather than settling for their first offer. Similar to the final placements, students can apply for multiple “dream” internships even after their first selection.

IIM Ahmedabad Dream Application Policy

In the context of Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) admissions and placements, “Dream Applications” or “Dream Offers” refer to a policy that allows students greater flexibility while choosing job offers during campus placements.

Under the IIM Ahmedabad, Dream application policy students get the flexibility to pursue roles they are passionate about even after securing the initial job offer. Students can apply to firms of their choice in later clusters, even if they have already accepted an offer from an earlier cluster. This allows students to apply for preferred companies in subsequent clusters enabling them to align their careers with true interests. However, Once a student receives an offer from their dream company, this offer becomes binding, and any previous offers are forfeited. This ensures that both the student and the recruiter have a clear and committed engagement.
