At Knifepoint: Woman Gang-Rapped In Front Of Husband, Child In Tamil Nadu

Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu: In a showing event, three workers from Bihar gang-raped a 26-year-old woman in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruppur. The woman was raped by the trio in front of her husband and three-year-old daughter. The couple, hailing from Odisha, had arrived in Tiruppur looking for a job.

The family came to Coimbatore from Odisha 15 days ago and stayed in Annur, Coimbatore district. They went to Tiruppur on Monday for job hunting. As they were waiting at Pushpa Junction in the city, the accused approached them at around 8 a.m., claiming that they could help the couple find a job in their firm.

The accused then invited the couple to their room in Lakshmi Nagar. When the couple slept after dinner in a room on Monday night, the accused came to the room and held a knife to the husband’s throat at around midnight. The accused then gang-raped the woman in front of her husband and daughter, threatening to kill her husband with a knife, The New Indian Express quoted police.

On Tuesday, the Tiruppur city police arrested the three accused workers after the survivor filed a complaint with Tiruppur Kongu Nagar AWPS. A case has been registered under Sections 70 (1) and 351 (2) of BNS.

The rape survivor is undergoing treatment at the Tiruppur Government Medical College Hospital.

The accused has been identified as M. Mohammad Danish (25), M. Mohammad Murshid (20), and M. Mohammad Nadim (23). All the three are from Supaul in Bihar, and were residing at Lakshmi Nagar in Tiruppur. They were working at a private knitwear manufacturing unit in the area.
