Assam Woman Brutally Raped And Attacked With Acid In Front Of Children: Accused Flees.
A 30-year-old woman is fighting for her life after being subjected to a horrific acid attack and alleged sexual assault by her neighbour in Assam’s Cachar district.
The incident occurred in front of her two young children in Dholai abode. According to police reports, the accused, a 28-year-old driver and neighbour of the victim, forcibly entered her home on January 22 while her husband was away.

The attack followed a heated argument earlier that day, during which the woman had reportedly rebuffed the man.
Enraged, he returned hours later, barged into her house, tied her hands and feet, and allegedly raped her. In a brutal act of violence, he then poured an acid-like substance on her body before fleeing the scene. The woman’s two children witnessed the assault.
The victim’s husband discovered her unconscious and bound when he returned home. She was rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital, where doctors confirmed she suffered severe burns and trauma. Her condition remains critical.

A formal complaint was lodged by the husband on January 23 at the Dholai police station. The case has been registered under charges of sexual assault and causing grievous harm.
Authorities are awaiting the medical report to confirm whether rape occurred. “We are investigating all angles and working to arrest the accused, who has been absconding since the attack,” said a senior police officer. Raids are underway in nearby areas in Assam.
Early in January, a 25-year-old woman in Uttar Pradesh married a 28-year-old police constable, just a day after she had accused him of raping her for the second time and threatening to kill her.
The woman had filed a complaint at the Kotwali police station on Thursday morning. She said the police constable, who works in Lucknow had raped her on Wednesday after threatening her to withdraw a previous sexual assault case.
