The Australian government introduced the Mobility Arrangement For Talented Early-professionals Scheme (MATES) for Indian nationals to live and work for up to 2 years. Nearly 3,000 temporary visas will be issued each year through the visa pre-application ballot process. The graduates and early career professionals from India’s top universities will be allowed to register from December 2024 through the pre-application ballot for a Temporary Work visa under subclass 403.
The two countries introduced the Migration and Mobility Partnership Arrangement (MMPA) on May 23, 2023, which aims to promote the migration and facilitation of skill transfer. A candidate must have graduated within two years and should possess proficient English language skills with an overall IELTS score of at least 6.

The MATES program is designed for Indian nationals aged 30 or younger who have recently graduated from recognized institutions. This will present an attractive option for graduates to increase their careers abroad.
MATES continues to build on Australia and India’s strong people-to-people ties. It allows Indian nationals to gain employment in Australia and valuable experience in their areas of expertise. This will provide an equitable, streamlined, and transparent way to select applicants. Participants will be able to bring dependents. The scheme will also benefit Australian industry sectors and businesses by giving access to talented graduates with in-demand knowledge and skills.
