Kerala LPST Rank Holders Call Off 35-Day Protest After Talks With Education Minister N Samsudheen

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: The hunger strike by Kerala’s Lower Primary School Teacher (LPST) rank holders outside the Secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram has been called off. The rank holders withdrew the protest on Tuesday, August 11, after a successful talk with education minister N Samsudheen.

The agitation launched by the rank holders and other candidates has been going on for over the past one month, with the protesters  demanding immediate appointments from the May 2025 rank list is ongoing. The protest continued for over 35 days with candidates camping outside the Secretariat. The candidate eating grass as a symbolic demonstration had grabbed public attention.

The other demands of the protesters include transparent and prompt reporting of departmental vacancies, a revised teacher-student ratio of 1:25, and bringing aided-school teaching appointments under the PSC, apart from the immediate appointments.
