Kerala Teen Driven to Suicide by Brutal Ragging: Mother Seeks Justice.

Kochi, Kerala: Rajna PM, a grieving mother from Tripunithura, has accused Global Public School, Thiruvaniyoor of turning a blind eye to the relentless ragging and bullying that drove her 15-year-old son, Mihir Ahammed to suicide on January 15, 2025.

Mihir, a Class 10 student, jumped to his death from the 26th floor of his residence in Choice Paradise, Tripunithura, just hours after returning home from school. Speaking at a press conference, she revealed shocking details of the abuse Mihir endured for months.

According to her, Mihir was targeted by a gang of students who bullied him for his skin colour, physically assaulted him and subjected him to humiliating acts at school and on the school bus. On his last day, he was allegedly dragged into a school washroom, forced to lick a toilet seat and had his head flushed in the toilet.

Mihir was forced to play a game where he was made to spread his fingers apart, and instead of using a harmless object, the students’ gang used a knife to poke between the gaps.

Screenshots of a chat group show students celebrating Mihir’s death with messages like, “fk nigga he actually died.” Rajna claims the school pressured students to delete evidence and shut down the Justice for Mihir page.

When Rajna confronted the school with evidence, officials merely forwarded her complaint to the police but took no action. A First Information Report (FIR No. 42/2025) was registered at Hill Palace Police Station, but Rajna fears delays could let the accused destroy evidence.

She has also petitioned the Kerala Chief Minister’s Office, the Director General of Police (DGP), and the Child Commission, demanding an impartial probe.

This is not Mihir’s first tribulation. Rajna disclosed that he faced harassment from the vice principal of his previous school, GEMS Kochi, which she claims was ignored by authorities.

“As a mother, my demand is that all the accused in the case of taking my beloved son’s life should be brought to justice as soon as possible and be given due punishment. The family decided to fight all possible legal battles for it. I have full faith in law and order. For us to get justice and to prevent such incidents from happening again,”

“And I have faith and hope that the media community and general society will be with us in full support. And that is what we request of you.”

“A natural life in society should be possible for everyone. If legal action is not taken against such criminal acts without any benefit it will harm the society. And the message it sends to the new generation will be hazardous.”

“Apart from being the mother of a fifteen-year-old named Mihir, I have a strong conviction that I also speak for tens of thousands of children like him. Although his death is unfortunate, it is hoped that it will lead to the saving of many lives. I am ready to fight for it till the end,” she said.

A social media campaign led by supporters is amplifying calls for action. Citizens across Kerala are sharing the hashtag #justiceformihir to ensure those responsible are held accountable.
