"I cannot even imagine...": Priyanka Gandhi On Mihir's Tragic Death

The tragic death of the 15-year-old Mihir, who allegedly took his own life due to alleged relentless ragging and bullying, has been sending shock waves across Kerala. As the investigation and the letter from Mihir’s mother are unveiling shocking details about the case, the Congress MP, Priyanka Gandhi, has reacted to the incident today.

Priyanka Gandhi, the Member of Parliament from Wayanad, has expressed her solidarity with Rajna’s (Mihir’s mother) fight for justice. The MP, on strongly reacting to the heinous tragedy, described Rajina’s letter as “heartbreaking.”

Responding to Rajina’s letter, Priyanka wrote, “Reading the letter written by Mihir’s mother is heartbreaking. As mothers, all we wish for is the safety and happiness of our children. I cannot even imagine the pain and anger she must feel to know that her child was tortured and hounded in the way she has described.”

Calling the mother’s fight for justice an act of bravery, the MP also pointed out that it’s the school authorities duty to provide justice. She wrote, “Her fight for justice is an act of bravery and fortitude. The school authorities should have the courage to acknowledge the reality of this crime, accept responsibility, and not attempt to cover it up. It is their duty, and the duty of the state government, to do all they can to provide justice for Mihir.”

Questioning the actions that were taken by the police, she wrote, “How can we allow children to be subjected to this kind of cruelty and criminality and do nothing?”

She further emphasized the need for the amendment of strict laws against these cruelties. She wrote, “It’s about time strict laws are brought in to prevent ragging and protect young people who deserve safety and support as they build their futures.”

While concluding the note, the MP also extended her support towards the mother’s fight and wrote, “My heart goes out to you, Rajna; I stand with you in your fight for justice.”

For the unversed, Mihir, a Class 10 student, jumped to his death from the 26th floor of his residence in Choice Paradise, Tripunithura, on January 15, just hours after returning home from school.

According to his mother, Mihir was targeted by a gang of students who bullied him for his skin color, physically assaulted him, and subjected him to humiliating acts at school and on the school bus. On his last day, he was allegedly dragged into a school washroom, forced to lick a toilet seat, and had his head flushed in the toilet.
