It can be used for marriage parties, pilgrimage trips, private events, and other group travel needs, as an alternative to private tourist buses.

Transport Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar recently inaugurated the new endeavour, which he himself directed to launch, as per reports. The buses that are not being used on regular routes, would be used for the affordable private-use services while helping the department to generate more revenue to tackle its financial crisis.

The price range has been steadily reduced compared to the previous rates, and the government has categorised the new pricing structures into four slabs – A, B, C, and D—based on the type of bus. And the price varies from ordinary services to AC luxury options such as Volvo. The total amount is calculated based on the number of hours and the distance covered during the rental service.

Talking to local media, a KSRTC official said that it provides high-end buses to the parties that need them. The department would provide buses as per the requirements of the clients.

One of the major attractions of KSRTC services is its affordable price range. A mini-bus hired for a four-hour trip covering a total of 40 kilometers will have a meager charge of Rs 3,500, while an ordinary bus for the same duration and distance will now cost Rs 3,600. The price marks a significant drop from Rs 8,500 for an ordinary bus previously. Moreover, the department charges Rs 9,000 for a Fast Passenger, Rs 9,500 for a Super Fast, Rs 10,000 for a Super Express, and Rs 13,000 for a Volvo bus.
