
Renowned Nephrologist George P. Abraham Found Dead At Farmhouse (image:x.com/ArunkumarDr)
Ernakulam, Kerala: Dr George P. Abraham, renowned urologist and renal transplant specialist was found hanging at his farmhouse in Ernakulam, Kerala, late Sunday night. He was 74.
Police has recovered a suicide note from his body. In the suicide note, he mentioned that how is distressed over not being able to continue his medical practice with excellence as age affecting his performance, and pointing to the missing job satisfaction. As per the reports, recently he had developed shivering in his hands and it has also impacted his practice as surgeon.

A resident of Elamkulam in Ernakulam, George has been serving as the head of the department of urology and renal transplant at VPS Lakeshore Hospital in Kochi.
George used to spend time at the farmhouse every Sunday, Police reports. This weekend, he reached at the farmhouse along with his brother, but sent the latter back before he dies by suicide, as per the reports.
Nedumbassery Station House officer K. R. Arun told Indian Express: “We have recovered a ten-line suicide note purportedly written by the doctor, in which he said his is missing the job satisfaction. Due to old age, he cannot perform his duties perfectly. Besides, the doctor had recently undergone surgery and after that he, the note said, is facing health issues affecting his work as a doctor”.
A skilled and reputed medical practitioner, Abraham possessed over three decades of experience in the profession. He had carried out 15,0000 endourological procedures in Kerala and performed 2,500 renal transplants. He was the third surgeon across the world to perform living donor Laparoscopic Renal Transplant.

Abraham has performed the first cadaver transplant, Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) and Lap Donor Nephrectomy 3D laparoscopy in Kerala. Also, he had possessed more than 13 years of experience in Laparoscopic surgeries and had successfully performed more than 9000 laparoscopic urological surgeries.
The body will be handed over to relatives after post-mortem examination. Nedumbassery police registered a case for unnatural death and investigation is underway.
