BJP Fields State President VD Sharma From Khajuraho Lok Sabha Constituency

Edited by Fathimathu Shana

From Khajuraho Lok Sabha constituency of Madhya Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) decided to play safe. The party has given ticket to state minister Vishnudutt Sharma (VD Sharma), a known name in BJP.

After bagging a huge victory during the Madhya Pradesh assembly election, Sharma said he is positive that BJP will win all the 29 seats of Madhya Pradesh during the 2024 Lok Sabha election. In the assembly election, the party has won 163 seats out of the total 230 seats.

Sharma also put forward strategy for the party workers to yield maximum votes for the party. He directed BJP workers to spend two hours on every booth for 10 days to keep up with the objectives. Hitting at the trend of Congress workers quitting the grand old party and joining BJP, Sharma said the objective of the party must be to make every booth in Madhya Pradesh a “Modi booth” and “Congress Mukta Booth”.

His political career and loyalty towards BJP started long before joining the party. He started working with ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, student wing associated with RSS) in 1987. Sharma joined BJP in 2013. He served as the State General Secretary of BJP during 2016 to 2020.

Before the 2018 Madhya Pradesh assembly election, Sharma eyed the Govindpura constituency in Bhopal. But he was given the charge of the Rewa constituency. Rewa did well the election and even better than Congress.

He was elected as the Member of Parliament from Madhya Pradesh’s Khajuraho constituency during the 2019 Lok Sabha election. He was then given the responsibility of the party’s State President in 2020.
