The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Naba Charan Majhi has triumphed in the Mayurbhanj Lok Sabha constituency.

Naba Charan Majhi accumulated a grand total of 3,91,577 votes, surpassing his opponents by a significant margin of 1,56,650 votes. Sudam Marndi, representing the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), secured the runner-up position with a commendable 2,34,927 votes. Anjani Soren , Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) member attained third position in the constituency with a respectable count of 91,164 votes.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Naba Charan Majhi has triumphed in the Mayurbhanj Lok Sabha constituency.

Naba Charan Majhi is a low-profile leader and first-time member of the legislative assembly from Rairangpur. He has been chosen by the BJP central leadership as the candidate for the prestigious Mayurbhanj Lok Sabha seat. He is known for his support for tribal development and has accused the ruling BJD government of impeding the progress of tribal districts. Majhi has worked closely with the former vice-chairman of the Rairangpur Notified Area Council, and President of India, Draupadi Murmu is a staunch supporter of her. He replaced Union Minister Bishweswar Tudu as the BJP candidate for the Mayurbhanj seat.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP candidate Bishweswar Tudu won from the Mayurbhanj garnering 4,83,812 votes. BJP defeated BJD Dr Debashis Marndi who got 4,58,556 votes. The BJP secured 42 percent. In 2014, BJD’s Rama Chandra Hansdah won with 3,93,779 votes, surpassing BJP’s Nepole Raghu Murmu by 1,22,866 votes.
