Satish Kumar Gautam, the BJP candidate from Aligarh has won the Lok Sabha election after securing 5,01,834 votes, surpassing his nearest rival by a margin of 15,647 votes. Bijendra Singh of the Samajwadi (SP) came second with 486,187 votes, while the BSP’s Nand Kishor Pundir on third position with 377,905 votes.

51-year-old Satish Kumar Gautam is a veteran politician with a long political history with the party. With this win, Gautam has bagged a hattrick victory in the constituency. While in office, he served on several committees, including the Standing Committee on Chemicals & Fertilizers and the Consultative Committee, Ministry of Railways.

Chaudhari Brijendra Singh, the SP candidate from the constituency was a Congress stalwart who has won the 2004 Lok Sabha elections from the constituency on a Congress ticket.

Aligarh is a significant Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh. This historic city in Western Uttar Pradesh is famous for housing the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). It has a high Muslim population. In recent terms BJP strengthened its grip by winning two consecutive terms.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Satish Kumar Gautam secured this seat with a total of 514,622 votes. The runner-up was the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate, Dr. Arvind Kumar Singh, who received 227,886 votes.

Again, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Gautam secured 656,215 votes, retaining the seat. The BSP’s Dr. Ajeet Baliyan came in second place with 426,954 votes then.
