As BJP leaders are facing heavy social media criticism for the electoral debacle in the Lok Sabha election result, the Indian media outlets close to the previous establishment have also not been spared. The leaders of the saffron party were very confident that they were going to cross the 400 mark in the 2024 general election, while the media also supported their claims by predicting a landslide majority in their exit polls.
The exit polls of the major media houses predicted somewhere between 350 and 400 seats for the BJP and its alliance, NDA. As social media is flooded with trolls against what people generally branded “Godi media,” for their alleged biased news coverage, Congress leader Srinivas BV today shared a video aiming at Prime Minister Narendra Modi interviews of some media houses before the general election results that was declared on June 4.
“Paw-Paw Media before elections,” “Watching Modi’s scripted interviews post result,” wrote the Congress leader sharing clips from the interviews with the Prime Minister. “Paw-Paw” has been in use in the social media since an emotional actor in a BJP campaign video claimed that Modi stopped the war in Ukraine, as she said: “Modi ji stopped the war, Papa (dad)”.
In the video, the journalists can be heard flattering the Prime Minister, backing his claim of massive electoral victory. “My first question is will this election be just a formality?,” asks one of the journalists, while the other one was seen enticing Narendra Modi saying, “You just preparing for 2024 or have you prepared for 2029?”
Another journalist is talking to the Prime Minister, expressing his conviction of the BJP’s third term, “Look how crazy it is that the 2024 elections have not even concluded, but we are here talking about your next term,” the journalist said.
Some journalists broke all the media ethics and went on stating like the political party’s spokesperson with words such as, “From north to south, east to west, there is only one narrative based on our analysis – Narendra Modi narrative,” “Vote is only going to Modi ji because we have Modi ji’s guarantee.”
During the interview, a journalist was seen struggling to please the Prime Minister by commenting that even people in “Pakistan want Modi Ji” as their prime minister, claiming that he saw a video from the neighboring country expressing their desire to have Modi as their Prime Minister.

Sharing the same video clip in her X handle, expelled Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, who retained Krishnanagar constituency for another term, wrote, “Time for these brown nosers to find another job & time for some brave young journalists to step up in mainstream media.” The TMC leader was referring to the journalists who interviewed Prime Minister Modi in the video.
