‘Doctor Babu’ Nirmal Kumar Saha Of BJP Is Fielded Against Yusuf Pathan In Baharampur

Nirmal Kumar Saha, a BJP candidate and the well-known “Doctor Babu” in Murshidabad, is set to contest in the 18th Lok Sabha elections from the Baharampur constituency. Although the BJP candidate is not very well-known in politics, his popularity as a surgeon among the district’s populace is undeniable. He provides free surgery to patients in remote rural areas.

According to the 2011 census, there are roughly 52% Muslims in this seat, along with roughly 13.2% SC and 0.9 percent ST voters. According to analysts, the BJP is attempting to capitalize on Nirmal Saha’s well-known image in the constituency. Furthermore, Saha’s record is clear of any criminal charges. Even Saha’s political opponents, including TMC MLA Humayun Kabir, commend him for being a very decent man and stating that we need more professors, doctors, and engineers in politics, without addressing Saha’s political background.

After the announcement of his candidature from Baharampur constituency, BJP leader Nirmal Kumar Saha said to ANI, “I am feeling very good about it. This is a battlefield and I have to fight like a soldier. I will go to each and every house with PM Modi’s message of Viksit Bharat.”

Saha lost to Abdul Mannan Hossain in the 2009 state assembly race from Murshidabad with a margin of mere 4% of the vote. Additionally, Saha played a key role in the establishment of the RSS in the Murshidabad district. The Murshidabad Chamber of Commerce was presided over by his grandpa as its president.

Actually, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary of the Congress has historically held the Lok Sabha constituency of Baharampur. From 1999 to now, Adhir Ranjan has held this seat as an MP. He has won elections from this seat five times in a row. In addition, TMC has put prominent former cricket player Yusuf Pathan in the race to challenge West Bengal Congress President Adhir Ranjan Choudhary in the Baharampur Lok Sabha seat.

The BJP, TMC, and Congress are attempting to use populism to win over voters in the Baharampur constituency, so the election there could be interesting.
