CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury criticised exit polls, alleging they were orchestrated to manipulate the share market for financial gain. Yechury suggested that those who capitalised on the exit poll results profited, but emphasised that reality is now unfolding.

He called for waiting for the full election results before making conclusive statements. Despite this, Yechury expressed confidence in the performance of the INDIA alliance.

In the interview to PTI, he states “The early trends have already proved that the exit polls were totally off the mark and when we were saying that the exit polls are designed more for the stock market and for people to make money” he also added that they are completely out of sync with reality.
