Mumbai, May 17: Predicting a comfortable victory for the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge today said that the alliance will easily cross the 300 mark across India.
Addressing a huge public rally organized by the INDIA bloc here today, the Congress president said that the BJP will not be able to cross the 200 mark in any case, as it had virtually no presence in many states.
The Congress president appealed to the people to ensure the victory of the INDIA bloc and defeat the BJP. He warned that in case the BJP was not defeated it will change the constitution of the country. He said, the BJP not only wants to finish the constitution but the democracy also, which it must not be allowed to do.
He asserted that the people of India will not let the country become like another Pakistan. “We will preserve and protect the constitution and democracy at all costs”, he said, while adding, the BJP and the RSS were targeting the constitution and with that the rights of the people.
He said, the rising prices and rising unemployment were two serious issues facing the country and the BJP government had failed to solve these. He pointed out, there were 30 lakh government vacancies, which the Modi government had not filled up.
Countering Modi’s charge as what the Congress had done in 70 years, Kharge retorted, the Congress had protected the democracy and constitution due to which he had become the Prime Minister of the country.
Accusing the Prime Minister of being insensitive, he pointed out, on May 13, when a huge hoarding fell in Mumbai killing 14 people, Modi was in the city and held a roadshow at the same place. He said, Modi was not concerned about the grief and tragedy, but only about his roadshow.
Appealing people to vote and elect the INDIA candidates everywhere, he said, only then can the constitution and democracy be saved and only then can the country progress.
Senior INDIA leaders including Sharad Pawar, Arvind Kejriwal and Udhav Thackeray were also present on the occasion.
