The INDIA alliance is set to rally at Ramlila Maidan against the ruling government on March 31. Major leaders, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, president of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar), Sharad Pawar, president of the Shiv Sena (UBT) Uddhav Thackeray, and leader of the opposition in the Bihar legislative assembly Tejasvi Yadav, are some of the big names that are set to participate in the rally.
Reportedly, the Delhi police have granted permission to conduct the rally on Sunday. The rally has been organised to protest against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on March 21 in connection with a money laundering case to the Delhi liquor scam.
Other prominent names expected to be present are TMC MP Derek O”Brien, Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren, Secretary-General of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Sitaram Yechury, and Chief of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Farooq Abdullah as well.
Politician and wife of Hemant Soren, Kalpana Soren, general secretary of CPI (M) D Raja, CPI (ML) leader Dipankar Bhattarcharya, Rajya Sabha MP Tiruchi Siva and All India Forward Bloc general secretary G. Devarajan will also join in.
Previously, senior AAP leader Gopal Rai stated in a press conference that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had been “acting like a dictator and suppressing democracy” to arrest the AAP leader.
