INDIA Bloc Certain To Come To Power, It Is People Vs Modi Government: Mallikarjun Kharge

Bhuwneshwar, May 16: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge today expressed confidence that the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) was set to form the government at centre as people of the country have rejected the BJP.

He said, in Odisha also, people want to get rid of the 24-year-old rule of the Biju Janata Dal.

Addressing a press conference here today, Kharge said, it has now become a fight between the people of the country on one side and the Modi government on the other side.

He pointed out, the BJP had no base in states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh. Similarly, he added, in the rest of the country, people were completely disillusioned with the ten years of misrule at the centre.

Referring to the sorry state of affairs in Odisha, the Congress president claimed that the BJD and the BJP had a hidden understanding, not for serving the people of the state, but to save their respective governments. He said, both these parties were equally responsible for what was happening in Odisha.

He said, despite huge resources available in the state, there was no progress. He said the resources were used elsewhere. He observed, with no job avenues in the state, people were forced to migrate to other parts of the country for work. He disclosed that there was 41 percent unemployment prevailing in Odisha, which was among the highest in the country.

Accusing Prime Minister Modi of dividing people, Kharge pointed out how the Prime Minister was repeatedly delivering hate speeches. He said, this fight was for saving the democracy and constitution of the country as the BJP wanted to change the constitution.

He assured that unlike the fake guarantees of the Prime Minister Modi, Congress has promised ‘Paanch Nyay’ with 25 guarantees. He pointed out, Modi had promised to deposit Rs 15 lakhs in every Indian’s bank account, besides providing two crore jobs every year and doubling the income of farmers. He said, none of these guarantees was fulfilled.

The Congress president pointed out that the UPA government had brought the Food Security Act, Right to Education and MGNREGA, although it had made no such promise before elections. He said, the Congress always works for the welfare of the people and it will continue to do so.
