INDIA alliance will not send their representatives on the shows and events of fourteen news anchors, the bloc announced in a press statement. The Joint Coordination Committee of the alliance had given its approval yesterday to its media committee to take a call on this matter.

The list of the anchors includes: Aditi Tyagi (Bharat Express), Aman Chopra (News 18 Hindi), Amish Devgan (News 18 Hindi), Anand Narasimhan (News 18 English), Arnab Goswami (Republic TV), Ashok Shrivastav (DD News), Chitra Tripathi (Aa Tak), Gaurav Sawant (India Today), Navika Kumar (Times Now), Prachi Parashar (India TV), Rubika Liaquat (Bharat 24), Shiv Aroor (India Today), Sudhir Chaudhary (Aaj Tak) and Sushant Sinha (Times Now Navbharat).

“We have made this decision with a heavy heart. We are not opposed to any of these anchors. We don”t hate any of these anchors. But, we love our country more. We love our Bharat,” Congress leader Pawan Khera said on the decision to boycott these TV anchors.

However, the decision by the Opposition alliance did not go well with the journalists community.

Senior journalist and diplomatic affairs editor of The Hindu Suhasini Haidar said she is disappointed that the Opposition is spending its time grading anchors and journalists.

“The principle worth fighting for is more transparency and access for the media from those in power, not less,” she said in an X post.

Sudhir Chaudhary, Aaj Tak consulting editor and host of the show “Black and White”, who features on the list said the INDIA alliance has released the list of those journalists who refused to become “Charan Chumbak” and “Now it remains to be seen what answer the Indian media gives to this”.

Most of the journalists mentioned here reportedly take the side of the government and the ruling party in debates and shows, that prompted the alliance to take a such a call.
