A mother named Nisha from Chennai shared her lousy experience of her minor daughter being denied boarding on a Dubai-bound flight, despite providing all the required documents.
Nisha who is a makeup artist, had booked a trip for her daughter to travel with her grandmother and cousins.
The incident befell on January 29, 2025, when Nisha’s daughter was set to board the flight to Dubai for a much-awaited family vacation.
Despite having all the necessary paperwork, including a parent’s consent letter, the airport authorities denied the child boarding.
Nisha took to social media to express her frustration, highlighting a new rule that she claimed had implemented only recently.

According to her post, the travel agency had informed her that as long as the necessary documents were in place, traveling with relatives should not be an issue.
However, she was later informed by airport authorities that the policy had been changed just two months earlier, barring children from traveling with relatives without their parents.

“Previously, we had kids in our family traveling to Dubai with their grandparents and cousins for vacations without their parents. The Airport authorities say it was just two months ago that they implemented the rule of not allowing kids to travel with their relatives for vacations,” Nisha wrote.
She shared how her daughter’s excitement for her first international trip turned into tears and disappointment when she was not allowed to board.
Nisha mentioned that it was heartbreaking to witness her child’s emotional breakdown over something that could have been easily prevented if the new policy had been communicated more clearly.
The mother expressed further concern about the lack of communication between airlines, travel agencies, and the authorities at the airport.
Nisha’s previous experience, where her son had traveled with his grandmother to Dubai without any issues, had led her to believe that the same would apply to her daughter. “I didn’t expect this to happen. It was her first international trip, and to see her so disappointed was just the worst feeling in the world,” she said.

Despite producing all the necessary documents, including the official consent letter from both parents, the airport authorities stood firm in their decision, denying boarding to the minor.
This left Nisha and her husband in a difficult position, as they were unable to accompany their daughter on this trip due to their other commitments.
The family claimed that they were not informed about the policy change in advance, and as a result, they were forced to cancel the trip at the last moment.
Nisha stated that she has not yet received a refund for her daughter’s airline ticket. She also said that she intended to raise awareness about this issue so that other parents can be informed when traveling with minors.
