The man created fake profiles on the platforms using an international mobile number and uploaded a photo of a Brazilian model as his profile picture. The accused then lured the victims introducing them to them as someone who came to India for a project. The man gradually started getting close to the victims making engaging conversations and establishing friendship.

Once earning the trust of the victims, the accused would request intimate pictures and videos from the victims. Once such videos are shared, the scammer would start blackmailing them, threatening to upload the materials on social media platforms unless they make payment as per his demand.
The scam came to public light after a Delhi University student, also a victim, complained to the cyber police. In her complaint, the Delhi student told the police that she shared her personal pictures and videos with him over WhatsApp after the man declined her repeated request to meet in person, explaining excuses.

Once the man started threatening, the terrified woman gave as much money as she could. When her limits were exceeded as she was a student, she told her family and they approached the police, leading to the investigation. The investigation revealed the shocking details that the man had defrauded over 700 women.
During the investigation, police conducted a raid in Shakarpur, and collected incriminating evidence from Tushar Singh’s mobile phone, including over 60 WhatsApp chat records with women from Delhi and nearby regions, leading to his arrest. They also seized 13 credit cards linked to his criminal activities.
The accused confessed that at least 200 and 500 women had fallen victim to his trap. The probe revealed that the scammer targeted several young women in the recent past, extorting money from at least four other women. Police are reportedly examining the payment details.
