Young Woman Loses Rs 2.5 Cr To Extortion As Boyfriend Blackmails Using Intimate Videos

Bengaluru: As sextortion becomes one of the growing ways of extortion in the highly digitalised world, a 20-year-old woman lost her family’s Rs 2.5 crore after her boyfriend blackmailed  using their intimate video calls. The trust of the young woman was exploited by the man who promised her marriage.

Extortion of the money extracted not only money but also other valuables, including jewelry, expensive watches, and a luxury car. As the man continued to extract more from the victim, the woman, with no way to provide more, approached the police, which led to the fraudster’s arrest.

Surprisingly, the woman and the man were friends since the boarding schools but lost connection later. The duo met again and fell in love. The man also promised to marry the 20-year-old woman. Both then began to go on trips together and have intimate moments. As per a report by NDTV, the man shot video of them getting intimate while telling her that it was only for him.

Notably, the man was also tactical about his face being not visible in the video. He later began the extortion, threatening the woman that he would upload the video on digital platforms unless given the money. Through back-to-back blackmailing, the woman’s family lost Rs 2.5 crore to the scammer.
