India’s star wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson continued his remarkable run in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 by scoring his third consecutive half-century during the final against the New Zealand national cricket team at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Samson brought up his fifty in just 33 balls, continuing the rich vein of form that has defined his tournament. With this knock, he became the seventh batter in the history of the T20 World Cup to register three scores of 50 or more in a single edition of the tournament.
The Kerala batter had earlier played two crucial innings in the competition. He remained unbeaten on 97 against the West Indies cricket team and followed it up with a superb 89 against the England cricket team in the semifinal.
Having his latest half-century in the final, Samson also joined an elite list of cricketers who have scored fifties in both the semifinal and final of a T20 World Cup. Before him, only Virat Kohli and Shahid Afridi had achieved the feat.
Sanju Samson’s consistent performances have been one of the key highlights of India’s campaign in the tournament.
