Congress Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor has shared his delight on X after the much-awaited inclusion of Sanju Samson in the T20 India World Cup team. Congratulating the board of cricket, he wrote on X, “Congratulations to the @BCCI selectors on picking an excellent team for the #T20WorldCup2024. Delighted that my constituency will finally be represented at a cricket World Cup with @IamSanjuSamson finally getting a much-deserved break!” 

There was wide speculation regarding the selection of wicket keeper as many numerous names were in the fray. But BCCI has decided to entrust Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson with the gloves. 

Tharoor concluded his post by stating that this 15-member squad will bring back the trophy to the home country. 

Tharoor has earlier come out in support of the RR captain stating that there isn’t enough buzz about the player who has been in scintillating form in the Indian Premier League’s 2024 season. In the earlier post, Thiruvananthapuram MP also slammed the selection committee for continuously ignoring Samson for ICC tournaments. 

Samson’s repeated absence from the team has angered many. In 2023, the Congress leader demanded an explanation from the selection committee who denied the role of the star played in the 50-over World Cup. 

The T20 World Cup is scheduled to begin from June 2 to 29 in the USA and West Indies.
