Gujarat Titans To Retain Ashish Nehra, Vikram Solanki Amid Ownership Change Speculation

Gujarat Titans are set to retain head coach Ashish Nehra and director of cricket Vikram Solanki in their respective positions for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

It is likely that Nehra will run through his entire three-year contract which he signed after the Ahmedabad-based franchise clinched their inaugural edition of the lucrative tournament.

The word around the IPL is that both Nehra and Solanki have renegotiated their respective contracts, amid talks of a takeover from Torrent Pharma, with the duo set to earn INR 8 crore each, making them the highest-paid coaching staff in the league.

The franchise is currently owned by CVC Capital — a global private equity firm — with its key board members consisting of London-based Nick Clarry, Singapore-based Siddharth Patel, and Mumbai-based Amit Soni. It is reported that the duo will continue at their respective positions after a thorough review by the board members.

The rest of the coaching staff at Gujarat Titans — Aashish Kapoor, Mithun Manhas, Narendra Negi, and UK-based Naeem Amin (all assistant coaches), along with performance analyst Sandeep Raju — will also be retained at their positions.

However, it remains to be seen if the 2011 World Cup-winning coach Gary Kirsten, who served as the mentor of the franchise for the first three seasons is replaced after he parted ways to join the Pakistan national team.
