ICC T20 World Cup Venues Fixed, Including Three Cities In US (image-www.twitter/ICC)
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed three major cities of US will be venues for the mega ICC tournament. Dallas, Florida and New York will witness the much-awaited tournament series.
USA is all set to host Men T20 World Cup for the first time. Grand Prairie in Dallas, Broward County in Florida and Nassau County in New York are the three chosen venues.
In November 2021, ICC chose USA and West Indies to host the mega event. The venues were chosen after an extensive evaluation of several option.
Modular stadium solutions will be applied to increase facilities for the upcoming event. An agreement has been reached for the construction of a 34,000-seat modular stadium in Eisenhower Park, a purpose-built sports and events park in Nassau County, New York, on awarding of the required permit next month, says ICC Cricket.
“We’re delighted to announce the three USA venues that will host part of the biggest ICC Men’s T20 World Cup ever staged, with 20 teams competing for the trophy. The USA is a strategically important market and these venues give us an excellent opportunity to make a statement in the world’s biggest sport market,” said ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice.
The grand event co-hosted by US and West Indies will kick-start in June 2024.
In order to increase size, they have decided to implement modular stadium in Grand Prairie and Broward County to expand seating, media and premium hospitality areas subject to final agreement.
“This technology has been used at previous ICC events to increase venue capacity and it’s routinely used in other major sports around the world. In the USA, it will give us the opportunity to increase the size of the venues in both Dallas and Florida and create what is going to be a stunning venue in New York,” Allardice said.
In the tournament, 20 teams will compete for the trophy. Cricket as a sport is now gaining much attention in US and thus by hosting the event ICC believes to unite diverse communities.
In February 2025, Pakistan will host the Men’s Championship Trophy and this tournament will become the first major global cricket tournament to be played in Pakistan since 1996.
