Team India defeated England by 106 runs in the Vizag Test on Monday to level the series 1-1. Premier India bowler Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged man-of-the-match for his returns of 9/81. Opting to bat, young India sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal (209) notched up his first double-century to guide the hosts to 396. England veteran James Anderson and young spinners Rehan Ahmed and Shoaib Bashir picked up three wickets each in the first innings to disallow other Indian batters to score big.
In response, Zak Crawley played a resilient knock of 73 runs as Bumrah ran through the England batting line-up, returning figures of 6/45, to bundle them out for 253 runs. Later, under pressure, India batter Shubman Gill scored a brilliant 104 while all-rounder Axar Patel contributed 45 runs with the bat to put up a total of 255. Tom Hartley was the pick of the bowlers for England as he scalped four wickets.
In the daunting chase of 398 runs, England could manage only 292 with Crawley once again displaying his grit to score 73 runs while Ben Foakes and Tom Hartley scored 36 each.
