'Known Him For 25 Years': PBKS Co-owner Ness Wadia Denies Altercation With KKR's Shah Rukh Khan At IPL Owners Meeting

The Indian Premier League (IPL) owners met on Wednesday night with various agendas on their plate. It included discussions around the size of the auction, a cap on overseas players, a Right-to-Match (RTM) card, and player retentions.

All the IPL franchise owners and co-owners attended the meeting that went late into the night, as per media reports. While most of them were present in person for the meeting, five-time champions Mumbai Indians’ owners, attended the conference virtually from Paris.

It is understood that the mega-auction was a much-talked-about topic at the IPL meeting where KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan and SRH’s Kavya Maran voted against it. However, as per a report in Cricbuzz, a BCCI top source said that there was a heated exchange between PBKS co-owner Ness Wadia and Shah Rukh Khan with the former relying on more retentions for his franchise.

“I have known Shah Rukh for more than 25 years. There is no animosity here,” the co-owner of Punjab Kings was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz, refusing to dwell upon his side’s position on the issue. “Everyone gave their views, and they had their opinions. At the end of the day, you have to look at all the stakeholders and do what’s best for all. That’s most important,” he said.

Meanwhile, SRH’s Maran insisted that it takes a long time to build a squad and for players to find consistency, so the mini-auction should be the way forward in the lucrative tournament while Delhi Capitals’ Parth Jindal echoed his voice with Wadia.

Kiran Kumar Grandhi of Delhi Capitals, Sanjiv Goenka of Lucknow Super Giants, Rupa Gurunath of Chennai Super Kings, Manoj Badale of Rajasthan Royals and Prathmesh Mishra of Royal Challengers Bangalore were a part of the IPL owners meeting.
