Bangladesh Won't Play T20 World Cup In India, Cites Safety Concerns After Mustafizur's IPL Exit
Dhaka, Bangladesh: Bangladesh has decided not to send its team to India for the T20 World Cup 2026, citing concerns about its players’ safety. The decision was taken on the heels of the abrupt removal of a top Bangladeshi player, Mustafizur Rahman from the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The country’s youth and sports adviser, Asif Nazrul, on Sunday said that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) requested the International Cricket Council (ICC) to move its games to Sri Lanka while seeking clarity regarding fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman’s removal from the IPL.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia had earlier declared that the body had taken a decision and instructed KKR authorities to release Bangladeshi bowler Mustafizur Rahman from their squad after “observing the recent development in Bangladesh.”
