Barcelona legends Lionel Messi and Suárez, the iconic pair, had teamed up once again, but this time by co-founding Deportivo LSM in Uruguay. The club, which was originally founded by Suárez in 2018 to develop local talents, now enters Uruguay’s professional fourth division with their joint leadership.

The iconic partnership began when the Uruguayan striker Luis Suárez joined FC Barcelona in 2014. Though along with Neymar in the frontline, the trio formed the legendary MSN, the connection between Suárez and Messi stood out on and off the field. Both families would even often go on vacations together. The prolific duo had won 13 major trophies together, including the Champions League, four La Liga crowns, and four Copa del Rey trophies. And by Suárez joining the American club Inter Miami, the duo had once again reignited their partnership in 2023.

The Deportivo LSM club boasts over 3,000 members, 80 employees, and a sports complex offering various activities for youth. And the club now aims to enter professional competition in Uruguay’s fourth division and become part of the AUF (Uruguayan Football Association) structure at both youth and professional levels.

“Deportivo LS is a family dream that began in 2018. We have grown a lot with more than 3,000 members,” Suárez said. “I want to offer Uruguayan soccer, the place I love and where I grew up as a child, opportunities and tools for teenagers and children to grow,” he added.
