Portuguese star footballer and Al Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo today took to his social media platform, expressing his proud moment on receiving the prestigious top scorer award for his dazzling performance in the Saudi Pro League. The celebrated football star is now playing for the Al Nassr Football Club, a Saudi Arabian professional football club. After emerging victorious at the 2023 Global Soccer Awards, Cristiano on Saturday shared his photos with the awards on Instagram, noting that he is proud to have won three awards. “Proud to have won three awards today. A big thank you to all the staff, teammates, and fans who keep making me better every day!” the star penned.
After the comparisons and arguments regarding the star’s average performance in the last World Cup, the player confidently proclaimed that he was the “best goal scorer” of the season, in his address at the award event.
“I was the best goal scorer this season, imagine doing better than young talents like Haaland… I’m proud. And I’ll be 39 soon. I like when the moment I feel I’m done, I”ll retire… maybe in 10 years?!” Cristiano said
Ronaldo’s outstanding goal-scoring record of 54 goals in 59 games for the Al-Nassr club outperformed the records of Kylian Mbappe, Harry Kane, and Erling Haaland. The three had scored 52, 52, and 50 in three of the European top leagues. During the award ceremony, a meeting between Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland, the two football legends, was also held.
Cristiano also talked about the potential of the Saudi Pro League, making a comparison with France’s Ligue 1, commenting that the Saudi League is on par or even better than France’s.
“To be honest, I think the Saudi league is not worse than the French league, in my opinion. In Saudi, I think it is more competitive. They can say whatever they want; it is just an opinion. I have played here for one year, so I know what I am talking about. But I think right now we are better than the French league,” Ronaldo said.
