Veteran Italian coach and the man behind Los Blancos’s two La Liga and three Champions League titles, Carlo Ancelotti is all set to leave the club following their defeat in Saturday’s Copa del Rey final. As per the football analyst, Fabrizio Romano has reached an agreement in principle with the CBF to become the manager of the Brazil national team in June.

Moreover, Ancelotti himself knew that his potential exit was on the cards, as he said his future “was a topic for the next weeks” after the defeat by Barca on Saturday. According to the Spanish media report, the Italian coach is expected to take charge ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in June, leaving Madrid before the Club World Cup, which will begin in the United States this summer.

“Carlo Ancelotti and Brazil have now a verbal 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 in principle to become the new head coach of the Seleção! The deal would be valid from June and 𝐧𝐨𝐭 after the Club World Cup, as always reported — all ready from May. Ancelotti and Real Madrid would part ways nicely as always wanted, waiting on all formal steps to follow,” Fabrizio posted on social media.

Ancelotti would remain in charge of Brazil until the 2026 World Cup, provided that the Seleção do qualify for the tournament, which will also take place in North America. The likelihood is that it will be his final job in football, given that he previously spoke of his desire to retire after ending his time at Real Madrid.

As for Real Madrid, the team still has five more games left to play and sits four points behind Barcelona in the table. The team are due to finish their campaign with games against Celta Vigo, Barcelona, Mallorca, Sevilla and Real Sociedad. As Ancelotti departs, Xabi Alonso, the head coach of German club Bayer Leverkusen, is expected to take over the role.
