Strong Wind Damages 40-Meter Statue Of Liberty In Brazil; Toppled To Ground

Guaíba, Brazil: A strong gusty wind brought down a 24-meter large replica of the Statue of Liberty in southern Brazil. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media. The structure collapsed when the winds reached 80–90 km per hour.

Thanks to the immediate isolation by Havan staff that no one was hurt when the statue was grounded.

Viral video shows the status leaning forward slowly before crashing into the empty parking lot. The statue first tilted and then toppled to the ground, giving adequate time for the vehicles to move on a busy road nearby. Immediate intervention from the people nearby prevented any damage or injuries.

However, the  11-meter base stood firm, which was installed near a fast-food outlet. The monument dates back to the early 1900.

Guaíba Mayor Marcelo Maranata confirmed the incident and said that the city was hit by strong wind gusts that reached 80 mph. Stating that the authorities were on the street since the first moment, the Mayor said the Civil Defense and the Secretary of Infrastructure are fully mobilized, attending to events and ensuring the safety of the population.
