Indian Captain Rohit Sharma completed 10,000 ODI runs during the Super Four Match Asia Cup 2023 against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Tuesday.

He became the second- fastest batter to reach this landmark. He took 241 innings to get here, which stands only behind his compatriot Virat Kohli as per the reports from ICC Cricket. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is the 15th player to score over 10,000 runs in the 50 over match.

The 36-year-old created the milestone after hitting a thunderous shot of a good length delivery from Kasun Rajitha behind the bowler’s head. The ball flew all the way off the region for an impressive six.

Sachin Tendulkar with 18426 runs tops the list followed by Sri Lanka’s former cricketer Kumar Sangakkara with 14234 runs. Virat Kohli (13024), Sourav Ganguly (11363), Rahul Dravid (10889) and MS Dhoni (10733) are the other India batters on the list. And thereby, becomes the 6th Indian batsman to 10,000 ODI runs.

Rohit Sharma made his first ODI debut in 2007 against Ireland. He has made 30 ODI centuries and 50 half centuries ever since his debut.

Kohli achieved it in 2018 in Visakhapatnam in an ODI against West Indies in 205 innings.

Virat Kohli on Monday stormed past Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 13,000 ODI runs and became the fastest during the Asia Cup 2023 Super Four match between India and Pakistan on Monday.

For the second game in row, India got off with a fabulous start with Rohit and Shubman Gill, the pair bought up a fabulous 1000 runs opening the innings together.
