In the annual developer conference held at its Silicon Valley headquarters on Monday, Apple introduced a list of exciting features such as the “Liquid Glass” design, a unified operating system naming scheme, and a new hub for its video games. However, this year Apple proceeded with more restrained approach than the previous two years.

During the conference the tech giant had introduced the biggest redesign of its operating system in a decade. A new design called “Liquid Glass” features a “new translucent material that reflects and refracts its surroundings.” It will ensure that buttons, switches, sliders, text, and media controls are transparent throughout their interface.

As expected, Apple’s operating systems will be now known by year. Instead of version numbers which Apple has given each of its operating systems the new version numbers will be in tune with the year after their release. The new names will be iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, and visionOS 26.

With broader changes in the design, Apple has introduced new looks for webpages in Safari, the Camera as well as Phone apps. The iPadOS 26 will enable multitasking easier for the user.

Another interesting enhancement coming to Apple is that the Messages app is likely to receive a new feature for automatic translation of messages. Additionally, it will also provide the option to change chat backgrounds and create polls in group conversations.

The tech giant has also introduced a new hub for its video games and this Games app that will let the user access all Apple Arcade games and discover new ones from a single spot.

The upcoming macOS Tahoe 26 update will enhance Spotlight, providing users with more relevant search results through personalization and filtering capabilities.

The VisionOS 26 will now has the support the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller, letting the user play a wider variety of virtual-reality games. In it, spatial widgets and a new scrolling feature will be available.

Apple has introduced new features to Apple Intelligence, including enabling users to use the same buttons they would to take a screenshot to call upon the AI assistant.

Along with new “wrist flick” gesture to dismiss notifications in watchOS 26 it will also have new AI-powered “Workout Buddy,” to help manage physical fitness. Similarly, in the conference, Apple has also introduced a forthcoming feature that lets users control their iPhone or iPad camera by tapping their AirPods’ stem.
