Google has launched a new category of Chromebooks, named as Chromebook Plus. Google said that the Chromebook Plus devices, priced from $399, will arrive with built-in Google apps and powerful AI capabilities. This lineup, made by Acer, Asus, HP and Lenovo, also comes with Adobe Photoshop on the web and Google Photos Magic Eraser to enhance user productivity. Google also informed that all Chromebook Plus laptops will have faster processors than entry-level devices and double the storage and memory. All laptops will have a 1080p webcam with temporal noise reduction and a Full HD IPS display.

The significant highlight of the Chromebook Plus models is mainly its AI-powered features. This includes a writing assistant that can work across various websites. Additionally, users can make AI-generated wallpapers based on prompts. Productivity software and AI-powered features are expected to run smoothly in the new devices, as the tech giant is setting minimum hardware requirements for this new lineup. All Chromebook Plus laptops will be equipped with the Intel Core i3 12th Gen or above, or AMD Ryzen 3 7000 series or above.

Google Photos will also bring various updates on Chromebook Plus. This includes Magic Eraser for object removal and automatic movie creation from photos and videos. It will also include HDR and portrait blur. Experts suggest that these major features could possibly be compatible with other Chromebooks as well in the future. The laptops will be available for order in the US starting October 8, while customers in Europe and Canada can purchase the devices from October 9. At the same time, Google also informed that the existing Chromebook devices will receive an OS update, which will ensure continued support for Chromebook users.
