OnePlus would be launching their foldable model this October 19th at Mumbai. The Chinese tech giant has confirmed the launch of their foldable model named Open – OnePlus Open, on a global level. Customers can now pre-book for Open on the website.
It would be a premium model, coming along with a high-end processor, a large battery and a display design which would be dual. The tech company has not said much about specs though there are several versions leaked about it, the Indian Express said.
The company President and COO Kinder Liu, while revealing the name and launch of the smartphone, said through X handle that it was “Great to chat to the team at @verge and reveal the name of our first foldable – #OnePlusOpen!”
Open would be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, the latest among Qualcomm’s chips, which brings in improved performance, connectivity and efficiency. Open could become one of the most powerful foldable phones available, as it could come up with 6GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.
As for the photography part, at the rear, it is expected to boast of a 48MP primary + 48MP ultrawide + 64MP periscope lens setup and at the front, a 32MP + 20MP.
The power part, the battery is expected to be of 4,800mAh, supporting 67W fast charging. This implies that within less than an hour, the device could be fully charged, which can be called impressive for a foldable phone. Open could support wireless and reverse wireless charging, allowing the charging of other devices too, wirelessly.
On the front, Open would carry a dual display design; on the inside it would be a 7.8-inch 2K AMOLED display, and on the front, a 6.31-inch AMOLED display. For a smooth user experience, both the displays would have a 120Hz refresh rate. Open could also have a fingerprint scanner and a punch-hole selfie camera.
OnePlusOpen brings in a statement that it could handle alternatives from Samsung, Huawei and Motorola, who now dominates the foldable phone segment of the market. OnePlus, known for its aggressive pricing policy, is expected to be priced at Rs1,39,999.
At a panel discussion at “From Fast & Smooth to Beyond,” Kinder Liu added that OnePlus Open would usher in the fastest phone experience in today’s foldable phone market. “It must be a flagship phone that doesn”t settle because of its folding form, in terms of industrial design, mechanical technology, and other aspects,” he said, reported the TOI.
