Netflix Drops Support for Older Apple Devices: See List

Netflix to soon end support for Apple devices running iOS 16.

One of the most used OTP platforms, Netflix has recently announced that it will be dropping support for several older Apple devices that are still running on iOS 16 or iPadOS 16. This change affects a range of devices including the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPad 5th Generation, and iPad Pro 1st Generation. Users of these devices will no longer be able to access the latest features, bug fixes, or security updates on the Netflix app, according to the reports.

The iPhone X, which was launched in 2017 has already been declared a vintage product by Apple. This clarifies that the company will no longer provide technical assistance or repairs for this device. When users of these affected devices update their Netflix app, they will see a message prompting them to install iOS 17 or later. Users will not be able to comply with this request since these devices are not compatible with iOS 17.

However, users can still access Netflix on these devices for the time being and they will not receive any further updates or support. This means that they will miss out on new features like bug fixes, and security patches that could potentially leave their devices vulnerable to security risks. Eventually, the Netflix app will stop working entirely on these devices. Even so, neither Apple nor Netflix has clarified when this will happen soon.

The reason for this change is due to Apple‘s decision not to update these devices to iOS 17 because of hardware limitations. Apple has stated that these devices do not have the necessary hardware to support the latest operating system. These old devices will not be receiving any further updates. This is a common issue for older devices as they often lack the necessary hardware to support the latest software updates. Users of these affected devices may need to consider upgrading to a newer device to continue accessing Netflix and other apps that require the latest operating system.
