South Korean electronics manufacturer Samsung has officially introduced the Bixby Text Call feature in India. The new feature, which is available on select Galaxy smartphones, allows the AI assistant Bixby to answer and respond to incoming calls on phones.
Samsung mentioned in its statement that Bixby’s automated voice will answer incoming calls on its devices. Users can simply type with the keyboard or select a quick response, and Bixby will read those messages to the caller. This feature was first revealed in Korea in October 2022. According to the company, the Bixby text call feature is currently available only on certain devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy S20 FE, Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Note 20+, and a few other models. Notably, the Bixby feature is only available in English.
To enable this new feature, users need to open the Phone app on their supported Galaxy smartphone, tap “More Options” (the three vertical dots), and then tap Settings. Now, users need to tap on the “Bixby Text Call” option and enable the feature in the Bixby text call window. Users can also edit Bixby text call settings, including language and voice. After activating this feature, users will be able to see the Bixby Text Call button on the incoming call screen, next to the green answer button. When a text call begins, users see the caller”s words displayed as text bubbles. Users can respond to those by typing messages or with the help of prewritten responses, and the AI assistant Bixby will convert them into speech.
