Air India Announces Non-Stop Flight Between Delhi and Phuket

Tata-owned Air India has announced its first non-stop flight between India”s Delhi and Thailand”s Phuket. The services will be operated by an A320 Neo aircraft, which offers 162 seats (150 in Economy and 12 in Business Class). The AI 378 flight is scheduled from Delhi at 1.10 a.m. and will arrive in Phuket the same day at 7.10 a.m.

The return flight of AI 379 is scheduled for 8.10 a.m. The services will be operated on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays starting December 15. With the new service, the airline is aiming to leverage the rising demand for this route, which will further boost tourism and trade.

Currently, IndiGo is the only airline operating nonstop flights from Delhi to Phuket.

Thailand had earlier enabled visa-free entry for Indians as part of their tourism-boosting initiatives. According to data provided by the Indian government, within the time span of 2011–2019, the number of Indians traveling abroad rose from 1.4 crore to 2.7 crore. And after the COVID-19 pandemic, it again rose to 2.1 crore.

Thailand has witnessed a growth of 927.5 billion baht ($25.6 7 billion) from January to October 29, as there were about 22 million visitors to Thailand, according to the latest government data. The country is targeting around 28 million visitors this year, hoping to prosper the constrained economic sector.
