On Saturday, Kuwaiti officials dismissed social media claims that Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah had health troubles and was taken to the hospital. The Amiri Diwan, the royal court of the Emir of Kuwait, called the social media posts “fake allegations.”
The Diwan confirmed that the Amir is in good health and emphasized the importance of verifying news reports from official sources.
Kuwait named then-Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad Al-Sabah as its new emir in September 2020, after the death of his half-brother Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad Al-Sabah at the age of 91.
Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was born on June 25, 1937, and assumed power as Amir of Kuwait on September 29, 2020. He was named crown prince on February 20, 2006, and first Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior on October 16, 2003.
“The Amiri Diwan prayed to Allah the Almighty to grant His Highness the Amir everlasting good health and wellness, and to protect him from any harm,” said the statement from the royal court.
